I have though about that. but given that the quaife can run anywhere from $800-$1,400 depending if you can find a GB or not and the insert cost me $200 shipped that difference alone more than paid for my pistons.
![]() Also when this tranny does decide to kick the bucket I'm going to replace it with a TT tranny. This insert is kinda like a until I do it better type of thing. I know it will go at some point, but as long as I do not take her to the 1/4 track I should be fine. I never did that before and always just did AutoX and road courses, so hopefully that wont change once I'm done. But I do understand, if money wasn't a concern I would have already had the quafie installed. ![]() -John

This is a great, entertaining thread. Lots on info and pics for those of us who want to learn.
As an aside, what's your major at Baylor? A couple of profs I knew from my undergrad days just recently transfered there. Good luck to you.

KUdude, I'm a film major, though I do have a minor in Business, I've taken many art classes, and started out college as a mechanical engineer, so I may know of them. And now all of you can tell why I've been in school for so long haha.. ![]() 12/13 Started off by getting over to Jeremy's house and make a list of missing parts. ![]() Ah, I remember that engine. ![]() From there we left for the Mitsu dealership where I dropped $75 on misc crap I didn't have. Stupid $8 eye bolts. Then we went to O'rilley's and I picked up a new fuel filter, woohoo only $18 for the best one they have. Got back and bolted up the rear exhaust manifold, rear turbo and what not. I tapped and set my EGT probe during some free time I had since last time I worked on the car. ![]() Not a whole lot else happened today, just little stuff. Figured out why the fuel rail seemed to be sitting too low I didn't transfer over the rubber spacers from my old injectors. Mounted up on of the side mounts, the bolts I picked up for the SMIC intake shield were to big, so I had to drill the hole a little larger. Installed the new fuel filter, easy job, though I have no idea how to do it if the engine had been in the car. Spent the rest of the night splicing the injector harness and soldering in the resisters. ![]() Tomorrow I have some stuff to take care of on Campus, then back to work on the car. This is my goal for tomorrow, time to see just how good my Dremel really is. ![]() -John |
