I know it is not the best, and it will not last forever. But I'm not banking on it to. I just want it to last a couple of years till I swap for a TT tranny.
I have never been to the drag strip and am not making a drag car so it should last me.
What was your experience with it? How long were you running before it went out. Did the springs fail or did it grenade?

EDIT 4 funky wording. hooked on fonix
I think it will kill your car even quicker for the fact that you have the regular FWD 5 speed which the diff is known to blow up period. Even welding the pin in like my freind did it just blew the diff housing to pieces. why add more stress to a part that is known to break. I lasted with mine i wanna say about 5 months im not sure its been so long. I know as wildarmz said im not easy on the car, but what diff should not be able to go through hell? On the opposite I was quite gentle on it, it made noise going around corners, and it did do its job for a bit but then all it did was the same thing a normal open diff does. I lost my sfr when i hit a rain puddle jumping into traffic, the rpms flew up some not too much and i let off then boom heard the tragic sound, costing me transmission repair, and more F*cking money then i wanted to spend. So no it won't be fine for normal driving because thats when the POS blew out on me! It would have been more cost effective for me to go straight to the true diff, much more now that Supercar got quaife to make one and quaife gives Lifetime warranty. I know of 2 other members that lost their trasnsmissions and one of them lost multiple, due to SFR insert. It even made him lose interest in the car completely and sold it, braincrater! so I'd stay away from it, its kinda like trying to make a hooker into a house wife!
Did you get the diff pin welded too? Heard that helps a bit. ES 3000TT's car is making more power and judging from the avatar driving more aggressively, but I think the insert will be fine for normal driving.
BTW, no Baylor for me, tuition is going to be too much, not to mention living costs . Decided not to be paying off loans till i'm 40 .
Oh, I'm not going to be running a TT tranny any time soon.
Sucks your not coming to Baylor, but I agree with your reasons not to. It was affordable when I first started, the tuition hick is ridiculous. I'm ready to get out. It is a great school, but I too am tired of paying. Well, not yet, it is student loans, but I'm tired of watching that total go up.
I didn't know that about the ATX N/A radiator. That means the one I have may be an ATX N/A.
John, I will pass on some wise words that Ty from Speed Factor gave me after I TT'ed my car. Always try to have about $1k put aside for car emergencies because you'll need it when you least expect it. My actual swap gave me NO problems at all, but the rest of the 110k mile old stock parts started to break and show their age even with my TT setup bone stock. You say that you plan on using the n/a tranny for a while...well what if it breaks? Then what are you gonna do? I know you say that you won't be too hard on it and whatnot...but things happen...remember I spun my bearing while cruising DOWNHILL without my foot even on the pedal... I'm not trying to scare you, more prepare you for the worst.

Brian, trust me I understand. Remember who you're talking to, I'm the guy who found a crack in his engine block. I already don't trust my tranny, but I will use it until it fails me.
Though, all you guys have me freaking out. haha...

I think we're all just trying to give you the best advice possible so that your car runs well without any failures I would love it if my car last 12 months without ever being down Don't start freaking out..... yet
Thanks, I know the LSD insert is not the best idea. But the price difference between the two options is near $1,000.

Today was oil pan work. The rear lined up perfectly so marked and drilled the holes. The front was hitting at a corner. So Jeremy and I took turns tapping it out to a flush point. Turned out good, going to weld in some inner inserts to screw into. So in the end it will be very similar to a TT pan.
John, make sure those oil return lines won't leak. I had to hack mine up a bit because of differences in the oil pans and ended up getting ss braided ones because I had slow leaks from both returns.
