Sorry for being late on the updates.

12/19
Today is the day to pop that engine back inside of the car.

But first, I wanted to gut the rear pre cat.

To do this, We had a mini sledge, a larger ball ping hammer, a pry bar, drill with a nice bit, flat head screw driver, and a pair of needle nose pliers.

Jeremy got suited up.

After that was finished, taking a lot longer than expected. We got the engine onto the cherry picker.

It actually went in rather easy. Nothing got caught up.

Now for a random discovery.

As those following this thread know, my car was in an accident before I owned her. When I went to swap out my radiator for the TT one I bought I found that they looked the same thickness. My first thought was that I got shafted and someone sold me a N/A radiator.

But upon closer look (thanks to Bob The great's site with N/A TT radiator side by side pics) I found that the one in my car was a 2nd gen TT AUTO radiator. haha, crazy stuff. So, I'm happy no one bought mine while it was for sale, because it is staying in my car.

12/20

I forgot the camera today, but nothing too exciting happened. Just a lot of quick progress. Jeremy and I mounted up and did the belts on all the accessories. And plugged in and repositioned everything we could excluding tranny components.

So, basically at a brick wall until I get some money in. Still hoping to have her done before the years end.

how important is the tt radiator upgrade? i went full lsd vs insert so now the radiator's becoming a next year thing...hopefully that was a good compromise

I would recommend it. Your engine is going to run hotter, thus it is a little riskier. It may not be a necessity, but it will keep your engine cooler, so that is always a plus.

Here is a pic from Bobthegreat.com where you can see a TT next to a N/A.

Since I now have an extra TT radiator. I'll let it go to you fro $50 + actual shipping.

The core is fine, though there is a good chunk missing from the fan shroud. I would suggest using your stock fans.

Already installed.

The insert was in my budget.

I know it is not the best, and it will not last forever. But I'm not banking on it to. I just want it to last a couple of years till I swap for a TT tranny.

I have never been to the drag strip and am not making a drag car so it should last me.

What was your experience with it? How long were you running before it went out. Did the springs fail or did it grenade?

John,

Did you get the diff pin welded too? Heard that helps a bit. ES 3000TT's car is making more power and judging from the avatar driving more aggressively, but I think the insert will be fine for normal driving.

BTW, no Baylor for me, tuition is going to be too much, not to mention living costs . Decided not to be paying off loans till i'm 40 .

Really, the n/a ATX radiator IS a TT radiator. If you are doing a swap on an ATX you don't need a TT radiator since you already have one.

The only difference between the TT radiator and the n/a ATX radiator is the hard line coming out the bottom left of the n/a ATX radiator. That's where the ATX fluid comes out of the built-in cooler.
