Default My FWD TT Conversion.

Well I finally went to start the car up last night and my laptop died (not battery just decided to take a dump on me). So I didn't have a logger.

But I started it. Immediately there is a squealing noise So I shut it off. I notice a slight oil leak at the rear oil feed. No biggie. SO I check my belts the Alternator belt is looser than a French prostitute I tighten it up, and decide to give it another go.

Starts up squeal is still there. Let it idle squeal is still there. Looking at the Wideband I'm at a 14.6 A/F (I didn't even look at the RPMS) check engine light comes on. I turn the car off.

A little smoke from the front turbo... I pull the MBC off and just run the two wastegates into the Ypipe nipple. Start it again its squealing I shut it off.

Keep in mind my boost gauge is reading "0" at idle not vacuum like it should ( pulled the line and pressurized it, and its not leaking)

I pull the front intake pipe off the compressor wheel spins freely and no shaft play.

I Have my desktop computer that I'm gonna hook to my car tonight and get that code. Does anyone have any other ideas on what I should check?

I followed Bob the Greats guide to a T. My only exception was I am still using the NA ECU. (Mostly because its only four years old.)

It is a NA engine with stock turbo parts put on it. The only after market parts are HKS SSQV BOV, and K&N FIPK.

I have both wastegates "T"ed and going to the Ypipe. and the BOV and Boost gauge coming off the Plenum.

I'm pretty much lost on what to look for.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

~Eric

i ran the wastegate nipples into the bottom of the MBC and the side should hook up to the Y-pipe nipple. Hook up the boost gauge from the vacuum line that comes off of the fuel puressure regulator and hook up the plenum nipple to the wastegate and the bubble. I finally had vacuum pressure reading on the boost gauge after that. The squeeling could be coming from the AC pully cause thats what mine did, until I replaced it. Did you have your turbos rebuilt? I ran into the problem with the turbos being bad cause the guy I bought them from said they were rebuilt and they were bad. At least the back one was.

sorry to hijack but what is the "bubble"?

Also did you locate where the noise is coming from? With no load it should be ok to let it idle at 14.6A/F while you check.

No, I made sure to turn it off when I hooked the battery back up and before I turned the key.

I'm not 100% sure. I'll have a better idea tonight.

It's ok everyone has to learn eventually. The bubble is the third piece of the intake piping system, after the filter and the MAF. It is the piece that splits the air into the two separate intake pipes for each individual turbo.

I will try that tonight.

I did not, but like I said there is no shaft play and the spin freely.

I am thinking about taking the alt belt off and starting it to see if my "NEW" alternator is making the noise... If its not that I'm afraid it might be my water pump as that the only other thing I can think that would be squealing. Especially because it sat for two months with out and engine coolant in it as I worked on the car here and there. (Stupid 60+ hour work weeks)

Does it sound like the water pump could be bad? I mean with my logic it does, but I really have desire to change that again.

Thanks for the help guys!!
