This thread needs a sticky. I get so many PMs from ATX guys wanting to do this and they don't even know this thread exists.

Hey T, here's a question: did you try plugging in the TT ECU without modifying the wiring? If so, what were the results? I did this today on my NA 2G harness, and it drove around the block fine. Logging and (I assume) radiator fans were not available.

Bump because I have received multiple questions about this within the past few weeks.
Admins: please sticky this so it is easier to find! Not everyone visits the wiki, and quite frankly the wiki isn't quite as easy to navigate as the forums. |

Ah damn, I didn't see it.
Yes, I did. It burned my ECU. One of the pins in the TT ECU is a ground assignment. If you do not modify the wiring, a powered wire (starter relay signal wire) will be plugged into that ground assigment, which will pop the ECU. You will still be able to drive it, but some of the functions (in my case my TPS sensor was not functioning correctly as a result) will not be working properly. If this was just something I experienced in a freak accident, it still would not work properly since your timing would be at around 5 degrees like mine was for so long. Log your car like that next time and see if you have similar timing. |
