I have all of the parts to do it (including the Apexi S-AFC) but I want to buy an after market centermount intercooler, SS fmic, turbo timer and boost controller before I put it all together. It probably wont be until next spring before I get it all together and running.

Problems?!! Wow, I don't know where to begin. I allowed AAM to do the work, and well problems is an understatement. Its been in the shop for almost two years and I have been through 3 motors, on a total of 2000 miles with a combined time of about 3 weeks or so. All the parts were new...??? And thats just the surface. I am on my forth motor and the car is still in the shop.

Actually doing the swap, I remember I had to buy a TT body wiring harness, and my entire body was rewired. I remember them telling me that my A/C wouldn't fit so they had to take that out. Power Steering hoses, brackets...I am not quite sure but there was some more BS involved.

WOW!!! I can't believe my eyes how long the list is and how many FWD are still in progress. I had no idea there were so many that I haven't heard of. (Thought I was the very few and didn't understand why?)

It's just great and is a dream to see our FWD platform rising and constantly entering new track times. I have much respect for all FWD TT's owners that made our cars faster with WHAT WE HAD!!!

To be honest I'm highly considering leaning toward doing a TT conversion to our targa top project car... my dad and I were originally going to s/c it but with the unreliability of the s/c kits for the DOHC and the unknown factors involved I am thinking it might be smarter (and have more potential) if we just to do the TT conversation. Not sure if we'd use the current engine that's in it or just buy a JSPEC TT engine. Who knows if we'll actually do it or not though.. first things first, finish the body.

Props to all of the TT conversions out there, both 10:1 and swaps. To be honest the progression of the FWD platform interests me more than the AWD platform... not sure why, but it always has.

Hey JB.. good to see that you found the thread! Some of us are just making are cars TT so that we can try and beat you.

I didn't think there was this many either, but the problem seems to be that very few of the FWD TT guys seem to visit the track much so no one hears about them. I was surprised at the NG in St Louis that you were the only FWD TT there in the drag races. Hopefully next year we can have alot more FWD TT's there. I plan on going from 16's to 12's with this mod.

Hey guys, this is awesome. I'm kinda like JB, I didn't realize how many FWD TT/force induction guys were out there or in the works. That's awesome.

I'll tell you what else is really awesome for me to see too. It's the fact that those of us that were the 1st few to do the TT conversion/TT engine swap had MAJOR problems and now guys are getting the cars to run stable without the problems us 1st guys had. Hans's ran for a few hours and hasn't been heard of for 2-3 years. Jeff (gatecrasher) has had numerous problems with the ESX. JB, finally blew up 10.1 compression motor as well as countless clutch handling problems. As for my car, The Super ES TT, its sitting over here in the shop broke to all hell. My car has been sitting since the 1st weekend in August (The Reading Gathering) We FINALLY got a spare moment to pull the motor out, and its not good. 2 fried piston rings, a spun rod bearing and one rod bearing that was just totally GONE!!!!!!! Anyone that knows me or my car knows that my car has had more than its fair share of problems. Lets see, on its 3rd tranny, probably 8-10 clutches, 3 sets of turbos, this will be the 4th motor and God only can remember what else.

My car is going under the knife over the winter for what hopefully will be the final major project for a LONG WHILE. We're doing a fully race prepped engine. Crower rods, 8.5:1 compression JE Pistons w/ a 3.1 bored motor, Dynamic Racing Stage 3 heads, FMIC, Crower regind cams, unorthodox cam gears, AEM EMS and its looking very much like twin IHI Ball Bearing 20G turbos. Yup, that's right, the DR650's are probably coming out with less than 5000 miles on them and no more than 15 drag runs.

Good luck to all of your guys heading into your converisons and good luck to those of you that have a FWD TT.

I do have to give a shout out to our latest TT conversion customer, Brian (upyun) We did his conversion and its running strong. Look for him to make some FWD TT news in the future

I missed the NG do to cash flow. I just purchased my 1st home about 2 weeks before the NG, so my funding was a little strapped.

As for hitting 12's, that's definitely easier said than done. My last trip to the track showed big improvements and I was deep into the 12's but can't claim it actually. The best run I had in my car was a 13.4@107mph. That was a full run with a time slip, not to mention a 2.49 60ft time. The last run, when the motor blew, was AT LEAST a mid to low 12 second pass though. I heard the motor knocking when I shifted from 2nd to 3rd. Actually, I missed 3rd gear the 1st time, and had to hit it again. Well, the results that that slip showed were:

1/8th mile ET: 8.3
1/8th mile MPH: 89.7 mph
60ft time: 2.14

even after missing 3rd gear the 1st time and litterally coasting the last 1/8 of the run, the car STILL ran a 13.7 @97mph.

We, me and several other highly esteem tuners like Matt Monet, figure had I hit 3rd gear smoothly and the car kept rolling, the car would have probably run somewhere around a 12.1 - 12.4 at around 120mph. And keep in mind that that was at 20psi and 112 Octane LEADED race gas.

Point being, I dont think the FWD TT can get out of the 13's without something bigger than a 9b and an upgraded fuel system. I personally think the minimium to break into the 12's in a FWD TT is Slicks, 13G's and 550cc injectors. But thats just my homble opinion
