If you can log your air fuel just before you die, I bet your going so rich your motor doesn't have enough air to run.

Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt
A person who makes unnecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to): - Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder - Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747 - Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool - Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself - Body kit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire - Clear tail lights and corner signals - A "performance intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine) - Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some 3000gt's Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therefore not always considered rice, but it really depends on the severity of the case. My car whines!!

You're right, Paul (Hey John). It is going back in the shop tomorrow to have the engine pulled and re-ringed. This will be the third time the cylinders have be honed in less than a year. Twice for two complete rebuilds and now because the file-to-fit rings did not seat after 2000 miles. So many times, I am having .020 oversized rings installed.
First engine build was by my local shop (All In One Automotive). Great build but I experienced a unexplained, catostrophic oil loss, 2 weeks later. Engine was fried but not locked up. Engine was pulled and shipped to Thomas Knight Turbos in Miami for a complete rebuild (no cost to me). The engine was shipped back and reinstalled by my local shop again and the rings Geoff Knight installed did not seat (in addition to many other problems that my local shop repaired at no cost to me). My local shop is again performing the re-ring work at no cost to me. Obviously, I have not had the FMIC connected in the meantime. Once the basic engine is healthy, I'll reconnect the IC and maybe I'll bet lucky and the stalling will not be an issue.......hey! it's my dream ha! I'll keep you posted! -Garrie |

I am anxious too. With the low compression (130-135 psi on my 8:1)and smoke screen behind me it ran strong. I did a road kill on a modded WRX that jumped me on the interstate, last weekend about 2 in the am. I finally let him catch up and pass me. Stayed on his butt for about a half mile then opened her up, passed him (might have been a her) again but kept going. I was doing 158 when I had to slow down for my exit. Here it is Wednesday and my adrenalin is still pumping ha!
Now with fresh rings, great compression and the IC connected....hummm, new stats and kills in my future ha!? My luck it will run like crap! |
