Question 3.5L TT questions

Been doing alot of thinking, researching and the like, listening to comments made on this forum in another thread...

I have a stock 3.5L. I also have a 3.5L on an engine stand for R&D purposes.
now I'm a poor apprentice and earn fuck all, I am saving for some more mods to the car. Screw cams.

Got me thinking, TT conversion. Not keen on the space factor it takes up, but keen on the power it'd make!

I've seen 2nd hand full TT kits go for about $500 including everything.

What I would like to know is. Whats the go with the stock 3L turbos? (in a FWD too) yay? nay? i wanna keep price DOWN but power up. not INSANE MEGA 700HP to the fronts but just something...else...

Can anyone shed some light on the standard 9b's? Too small for the capacity? if so whats the next, best reliable, but not most expensive upgrade...

I'm running the 9b now on a 3.5L with 10.1 @ 12psi. It spools the turbos really fast, but you can feel the lack of power on the big end were the turbos are struggling to keep feeding the beast. As far as how much power it's making not sure haven't had it dynoed waiting the finish my single setup.

Thanks for the response mate.
Anything else you can answer in regards to fitting from a 3L? what needed to be modified?

Where does power begin to run out at?
Im saving money every week towards something special in a few months for my 21st.
Are you running meth? 12psi is pretty insane! i was thinking like....6-8psi to keep it safe...

you running FW or AWD?

There is a thread around here somewhere about a 3.5L with 15G's. Even those are to small to maintain power on the big end. If you need to stick with TD04's I'd say 19T's or DR750's unless you desire a power band that favors low RPM by a ton.

I don't have any experience with 3.5's and TD04's, but I know a 3.5 makes TD05 16G's feel/dive like TD04's, so that's what my suggestions are based on.

Information taken on board mate.

As we all do we want more power out of our cars....I did some research into camshafts and for the money it'd cost to install cams and a high rev kit....I could go a low boost TT setup and blow the cams idea out of the water.

So yes, I know its not a PERFECT setup, but as far as ease of installation goes, I figure it would be pretty easy.

I have a spare 3.5L on a stand here i can dummy stuff up on so after it's all dummied up on the stand it'll only be a weekender to swap it all over.

TT conversion would cost me like $500 in standard parts, then about another $600 on aftermarket pieces as I'll be running a FMIC.

Was just after what else had to be shortened/lengthened in regards to oil and coolant lines mainly. Also keen on some pictures as they would help me (not of a standard tt conversion but of anything modded for a 74 tt conversion, yes ive seen john monnins site but he uses all new custom stuff i dont have the $ for!)

9bs spool extremely quickly with the 3.0L engine. Personally, I'd go larger - probably 15Gs at the smallest. If you go through all of the trouble of swapping engines, you might as well use the proper turbos the first time around.

That's the thing I'm contemplating. I wanna do this using as many OEM bolt on parts as possible to keep costs to a minimum. I also need an LSD. Ah list never ends.

I'm hoping to aquire all the standard bolt on TT parts for around $400 minus the turbos themselves.

Also, is there any Off the shelf Hard pipe FMIC kit? I see alot of photos where there is no Y pipe just a solid piece that goes down, is this a FMIC kit?
