1. Does the motor HAVE to come out to be able to do the tt conversion to a base model?
2. Is it possible to finish the job over the winter months (5 months here in NS, Canada) working on it basically week nights and weekends?
I only do mechanic work for fun basically so im no pro thats for sure. Just wondering how long it took most of you guys to do the conversion if you've done it yourself?

1 No, it can be done in the car, I did it that way.
2 Yes you should have plenty of time over the winter doing it nights and weekends.

1. No, motor can stay in engine bay.
2.I did the conversion over the length of two days.
awesome fellas..Thats all I wanted to know, i couldnt find anywhere where it states exactly if the motor should come out or stay in. Thanks!! Ill start a thread when I start the build.
Now, with it being said that it can be done, most people will say if you have the option to remove it, it's much easier. If I had to do it again, I'd probably take it out. I hate laying on my back working under the car.
believe it or not its easier to remove it. you will do a better job and like tool man said you will basically hate the whole job because your laying on your back cursing the whole time.
Hahaha. I appreciate your opinions everyone! And i am exactly the one to be on my back cursing, because i dont have the right sized extension for my ratchet and a wrench just aint cuttin' it, and my knuckles are beat to s**t! :P
