I used my stock 95 N/A harness with this ECU, that thread doesn't apply to me. I just basically swapped ECU's without any modification other than the TT conversion. At this time I have not wired up an extra o2 sensor and I'm guessing this is the reason why my A/F is all over the place. I am going to splice in my one o2 sensor to both places on the ECU and see what happens. I will be doing this tomorrow morning.

I don't have a datalogger yet and I will plan to use one for the first gen. If I remember right the logger will hook up to my diagnostic port just fine. I'll find out soon enough. I will keep this thread updated as I progress into this.

I realize that, but how are the radiator fans working? (assuming you did no modifications to the harness). First gen's used 2 switches, while the 2nd gen harness you are using has no provisions for that, and is controlled by the ECU. Don't get me wrong, that'd be an awesome discovery. Im just wondering. Also, is your harness Fed-Spec or Cali?

Looking forward to seeing you update

I did no modification to the harness and I have a fed spec N/A harness. I just pulled the ECU out of the car to splice in the other o2 sensor wire. I'll update after I finish wiring.

Sounds like the fans are working fine, which is pretty cool! I got jokes!

I won't have any updates on my progress until this coming Tuesday. I have company in town and need to be a good host, and not get my hands dirty.

some other things to consider:

Using a 91-92 ECU with 93+ sensor will throw timing off by a few degrees unless rewired

check the differences in pinouts (fans, cas)

^ Interesting. Good thing I used a 1st gen engine/ ECU/ harness. Still, my OBDII port has to be rewired a bit.

Believe me I have looked at the pinouts very closely. The CAS and CPS are on the same pin ID. It reads just the same output from either of the sensors. I have checked base timing and its in spec.

you'd only see the difference at the upper rpm range

Quote:
his latency difference in sensor types causes a few degrees difference in timing at high rpm. For example, at 7000 rpm, a single degree of crank rotation takes place in 0.0238 ms (23.8 us); 7000 rpm = ~116.667 rps ==> ~8.57 ms/rev = 0.0238 ms/degree. There is a difference of 80 us between the two types of sensor, leading to a 3 to 4 degree difference in timing.
its not really a big deal (3-4 degrees less timing in our case), just something to consider. looking forward to see what you have to update on tuesday

To update this thread I had to put my 92 ECU back in my VR-4, and this ECU I got from a board member has a leaking cap that leaked all over the board. This ECU is unrepairable so says the shop. This member has lied to me about shipping it out on the correct date and the overall condition of this. If I don't receive a full refund of my money I will be filing a claim against. I will have to wait until I find an ECU that is in good condition before I continue this.
