Default 1st gen ECU in 2nd gen

I have been told by a couple people that a 1st gen Fed-Spec ECU will fit a 95 Fed-Spec N/A. I used the pin ID page on stealth316.com for wiring in my AFR. I referred to the 91-93TT ECU's for the ID's. I have done research on this and have found a couple pins are different. One just deals with EGR which is no big deal and the other is for the radiator fans. This can be rewired easily if it is necessary. My question is has anyone here tried using a 1st gen ECU in their 2nd gen with an N/A harness. I would just like to hear some feedback from people who have ACTUALLY tried this. I will be getting an ECU from a 92 TT shortly.

When we put my 91TT ECU and harness in my 97SL, we did have to re-wire the fans. We ended up using a toggle switch, that is now mounted just below the radio.

a 97 SL is also a cali-spec N/A, the pins should not line up very well in that car. However, the pinouts do match up just fine in the 94-95 fed-spec N/A's vs. a first gen TT. I did compare the pins, and the only differeces were pins that aren't needed, the VICS in the intake plenum on the N/A, the TT does not have it, and a 2nd O2 sesnor. However, for the record, a friend of mine with a 91 ES Stealth drives his car around off of my 94 ECU, without any problems, and no modifications were made to the harness. Plugged it right in and runs just fine.

Good to know, I am ordering my ECU today. I should have it sometime next week and will let everyone know the results. By looking at the pinouts I find no reason anything should be different other than the obvious.

Were the fans functioning as usual?

I just dropped the TT ECU in, it was from a 92. I have no CEL, the radiator fans are functioning normal and my idle is smoother. I do have a couple problems with my idle but that just deals with the BISS screw. My correction is set at 0 correction all across the board. I am only running off of one o2 sensor at the moment and I think this might be the reason why it has a slight studder under normal load. It goes away under WOT. I will keep updating this thread when I get more of it tuned.
