Yep, between injector sizing/scaling and the fuel tables, you can toss the SAFC/EM/AEM/whatever. Just make sure you have a wideband to dial them in precisely.

a completely different issue but if we wanted a flashable ecu, whats the chance of finding one and wiring it in or any of the later ecu's from any other mitsu that could be flashable as well?

I miss ecuflash but i have a 95 :/

If I would have saved 1 thing from my wrecked 98, it would have been the ECU and engine wire harness...

Swapping it into an older 3/S wouldn't be hard if you had all the solenoids.
