Now will this work in conjunction with say an SAFC II?

After that, try tuning the fuel and/or timing maps, etc. Let us know if things work as expected, don't work, and especially, if you go to change something and the map looks wrong, DONT change or flash. Give us some feedback so we can find out what the problem is.
This should be fun! Hopefully all of our feedback and contributions help the platform advance.

Wow, this is an amazing step forward. To bad I ordered my HHH a week ago because I got impatient. Good luck!

I'm not positive, but I want to guess that it wouldn't? The SAFC is a piggyback so it changes the signals the ECU sees.

If it changes the signals AFTER they'd be given to the OBD port for diagnostics, it won't work with it.

If it changes the signals BEFORE they are given to the OBD port, then it should work with it.

To be specific, it should log with the SAFC II, but whether it would log the changes the SAFC II makes to fueling, I don't know.

It's not going to advance much without some feedback.

Current Status:

Got my microsd card and got it working on my evo (what I drove today). After realizing it won't support the 62500 baud rate I flashed my ECU to, I set it to 15625 and it's working.

QUESTION: Does the 95 VR4 need any additional commands to ground the diag pin (1 or 15) to enable logging? I'm going to give it a try when I get home in about 4 hours, but if anyone knows offhand that'd be great and would save me some time.

SOLUTION: setpinvoltage=1,-2 right after tye=mut2

so we need to open port 2 to data log but can it also flash or do I need the $11 mitsu connector too?
The website isnt clear to me.

What can the openport 2 log at the moment?

Also, the info logged will be nothing but txt? Will importing it into a logging gui make it so newbs like me can understand what I'm looking at?

Thanks

You'll need a flash connector to reflash. I don't have access to a 99, but my guess would be the mitsu reflash connector. The flashing is ONLY for 98/99; no other years.

The OpenPort2 can log anything that the MUT will spit out. RPM, fuel trims, o2 sensors, timing, injector duty cycle, etc.

The logged info is a CSV file (a type of text) but you can open it with Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc to view it in a normal grid format. Its very easy to see the numbers; it takes some learning to understand what the numbers mean.

I'm not going to be able to do any further testing for another week or so. My VR4 coupe alternator decided to take a dump on me, which now brings me to ... 3 VR4s down. Two with bad alternators (and 120k miles), one with a good alternator but no motor. Think it's time to turn a couple wrenches this weekend.....

Thanks for the info. Do you have an file I can take a look at and play with in excel.
How about knock for the obdII guys, can it log knock?
I think I read someone saying it could be looked at with a logging program to make it easier to understand. Am I mistaken?

I'll post a sample file when I get home. Some of the values are off, but it'll give you the general idea. I'll also post the params file so that it can be used to log your own car.

Yes, you can log knock.

This IS the logging program. What you'll want is either a spreadsheet program (MS Excel or OpenOffice Calc) or a graphing program like EvoScan.

FWIW, I pulled the alternator for the coupe over the weekend, but trying to do the timing belt/acc belt/water pump while I'm in there, since it needs the 120K anyway, so it'll be a bit before I can test further....
