I've been looking at how to hook an EGT probe up to MMCD. Mostly to set alert triggers but also for simple tuning.
First some links for background info
MMCD reference;
MMCd New Features
Good background info on thermocouples;

Using the EGRT 5v input with MMCD, I'll need to amplify the thermocouple output by over 100 to get it up to 5v at the temperatures I'll need, say up to 2000 degrees F. See math below for my calculations.
There is a chip that can do this well, the AD595. It's output is 10mv per degrees C.
Here's a thread on using the AD595 with a 5/11 voltage divider to get the output down to 5v.
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/f...ighlight=AD595
AD595 Data sheet;
http://www.analog.com/UploadedFiles/.../AD594_595.pdf
So my math is:
Thermocouple output is .000022v per degree F
2024 degrees F = 0.044528v
applying this to an AD595
0.044528v * 247.3 (AD595 Gain) = 11.0117744v
5/11 voltage divider on the output
11.0117744v*5/11 = 5.005352v
one concern is the AD595 max output is 2v less then the supply voltage so there's a chance i'll be below 13v supply and not have full temp range.
So, I have a TRE K Type probe I never hooked up, I have MMCD, for a few bucks does anyone see a reason why this wont work or if there's a better way to do this?
