Oh it works... and it works GREAT!!!
I tried version 2.0 on my 99 Saturday night. Did many third gear pulls and it worked like a charm. It logged knock and the sample rate was around 80/sec... I wanted to check if the knock sum values were accurate so I put about one gallon of regular fuel on the car, lowered the boost to 7 psi and did a couple of third gear pulls and I got about 10 to 14 counts of knock! (So much for those saying that it's OK to run regular gas on a stock car!)Then I filled up the tank with premium gas and at the same BP of 7psi, I didn't get any knock. Then I cranked up the BP gradually up to 13-14 PSI (spike to 14 PSI then 13 up to 6K rpms) and no knock whatsoever on WOT pulls (13GS with stock injectors). So I guess the knock readout is accurate! However, I am still getting some part-throttle and throttle-transition knock (10 to 14 counts). I think that it's because I am running a hotwired Supra pump with the stock FPR. I am gonna put back the AFPR and see if that solves the problem. I just LOVE this thing and highly recommend it to anyone with an OBD-II 3S. This thing just opens up a world of possibilities to us OBD-II owners who have been deprived of a useful logging solution for too long. It is loaded with features and my favorite one is the custom warning trigger that you can set to whatever you want (ex: you can set the trigger to RPM>3000, Throttle>60% Knock>7 so if you are at more than 3000 rpm with the throttle opened more than 60% and you get more than 7 counts of knock, it will warn you). The graph readout is also excellent and you can load 2 logs to compare the data. I am still not done exploring all the features but SO FAR SO GOOD. I have the cable hooked up to a Tablet PC (a sort of mix between a pocket PC and a laptop) so it's very convenient to use. I just tuck it between the passenger seat and the central armrest/glovebox. I will post some logs and screenshots later. BIG THANKS TO THE OP AND TO TOMMY FOR HELPING US FIND THIS GEM! Reda/ P.S: The only thing I found that is not working 100% is DTCs. I have a CEL (Code P0400 EGR) that the SM3 shows. Evoscan picked it up too but also displayed a Baro DTC (SM3 doesn't show that and I don't think that I have an issue with Baro) and it couldn't clear the codes (CEL is still on). However, full DTCs support should be available with next release. Come on guys, the more of us will buy this the more support we will get. |

Now quit slacking and go try it out! I forgot to add, if you have an innovate or a zeitronix WB, you can also log it with Evoscan! I have an LC-1 but I haven't tried this feature yet (can't find the damn terminator plug!). I guess I'll just have to do with logging ONLY knock for know... LOL!! Reda/ |

Hook yours up and try it Bob. I'm having a problem with this version and cannot connect. Need to know if you can or not. Keeps telling me to turn off the ignition then back on again to connect. Something simple I'm sure but just querious if you can connect with your '97 and cable variation.

oh man. what fun it would be to find out why my ABS light is still on. I think the pump is shot because its a big rust ball but who knows. and the SRS light is on but im thinking it might be the clock spring. I guess in time i might be able to diagnose things like at school with the TEC stream for the Toyotas.
