That's just a simple mistake made somewhere in the code. It just means that the TPS Column was setup to accept variables of the type "double", which are numbers with 2 decimal places (even if those 2 decimal places are zeros). Basically a line of code just needs to be added that will round the number 13.725490 to 13.72.

But this does sound pretty cool, I want to clear my SRS light and find out what's up with my abs light coming on.

A "double" variable is a 64-bit double-precision floating point value.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_precision

But yeah, there's a coding error with the variable assignments somewhere. Looks like it should probably be a single-precision floating point variable. A run-o-the-mill bug.

Yeah you're right...long day at work, for some reason that was what came to mind when I thought double. Anyways, same basic idea applies...just needs to cast the TPS variable to a double or change the TPS column to accept the current data type.

I have an ELMSCAN OBD II interface cable. It works with various OBD II software. Will this work with this product, or will the physical layer of the interface (the elmscan itself) run too slow as compared to this man's interface.

Matt
Get the 1.4E USB cable (69.00 USD). The 1.3M allows you to reprogram the ECU. Your don't need this feature since your ECU is not flashable.

From what I understand (tommy can correct me if I am wrong) 96+ 3S use the standard ISO9141-2 protocol (as well as US DSMs and US EVO8/9) which is slow and doesn't allow us to see knock.

Since they are mitsubishis, they also support the MUT-III factory dealership protocol. (The evoscan website says that "EvoScan still works with those US Models, although better and faster than the universal standard OBDII datalogging tools, since the Mitsubishi MUT-II(JOBD) Protocol runs 50% faster than ISO9141-2! By changing a setting in your ecu, the MUT protocol can run 400% faster than ISO9141-2").

However, the software needs to be changed to completely support these cars (specially DTCs and emission testing). This is in progress and US Eclipse, DSM and 3000GT OBDII Vehicle Support is in beta testing. The last newsletter I received states:

Support in progress:
32) 1994-99 U.S.A. DSM - Found that it uses ISO9141-2 OBDII protocol, currently disassembling rom to check for other protocols. (some 3000GT's seem to be falling into this category too).

Apparently, thanks to tommy the developper noticed that there is a lot of interest for this product.

I we want to speed things up, I really think that we should get the word out. Maybe we should set up a group buy. We could get lower prices and it would show the developper that there is a huge interest for this product.

One way to tell for sure if it works is to bring your car to our meet this Saturday. I'll bring my laptop and go from there.
