It said something like " you need software to run this program" and then it gave me the option to find software on the computer manually or automatically. i chose automatically and then it said "software could not be found"

The horsepower is calculated on a formula based off what it reads from some other parameters. It's the HP that the car is making at that given time, not it's peak potential. It sounds stupid, but I guess it's possible the car makes 9 horsepower with no boost sitting still.

The HP/TQ measurement has been fairly accurate with my evo, but I know it logs g/rev correctly, and I believe that's what it bases HP and TQ off of. Still haven't been able to log my VR4 yet.

Also check to make sure the formulas and usage are set for 1 byte and not 2 byte. Last I looked, EvoScan is defaulting to 2byte mods done with the evo, so the calculations will be wayyyy off. My first evo calc width 2.4 was over 9,000 ft lbs of torque.

well i would consider 9 hp decent if it wasnt at 5500 rpm's lol. the torque seems to be dead on what i thought. but ill go back and check what u suggested...thanks

Hey guys I got my cable 1.3b with software 2.5. My labtop has windows vista and I can not connect the logger. I have reinstall the software several times and no luck. The I went to the control panel in the device manager to check out my USB devices and of course I had driver issue with the cable. I have tried to update drivers by adding the Eco scan folder for the source of the drivers for the cable and still no luck. Is this a vista problem or data logger conectivity issue?

Also is it normal for the check engine light to flash when cable is plug in ? My car is 1995 rt/ty built in June of 1994.

Be sure to read the laptop installation requirements........

Laptop Requirements:
EvoScan/EcuFlash/OpenPort 1.3U Requires installation of USB FTDI drivers (installed with ecuflash, or EvoScan will auto install them if no drivers found on logging)
Otherwise you'll get this message: FTD2XX.DLL missing
you can manually install the Evoscan USB drivers: from C:\program files\evoscan\EvoScan v2.5\USB Drivers\x86\DPinst.exe /i

ELM327 USB Cable Drivers and Software: Download Here

Requires installation of Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 (its not installed by default on WindowsXP, but it is installed by default in Windows Vista)
Otherwise you'll get this message: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)." - to fix install MS .NET Framework v2.0

Basically if the laptop can run Windows fine, then the EvoScan software will also run.

The EvoScan software runs really fast, even on 300Mhz machines.
To get maximum speed on EvoScan:
- Disable Log To Screen, and Enable Logging Superspeed, run a power inverter in your car for your laptop to get full speed cpu from your laptop (Less effect is noticed on 2.0Ghz laptops with a/c power, but slower laptops or laptops running off the battery benefit a lot of speed with these settings)

I hadn't checked on this thread in a while, but I did read back for a few months worth and only saw 1 post regarding serial logging of a wideband. Sorry if this has already been covered.

So how many people have combined this logger with serial logging from a wideband, does it sync and work well?

For my last question, can you log EGRT with EvoScan? I think it would be pretty damn perfect if I could log boost on the EGRT and my AEM UEGO via serial. I'd be a happy camper.

I have the Zt2 wideband from Zeitronix and it works flawlessly.
