Not sure if you were answering my question or not so I decided to update to the latest and give it a go....

Doesn't work for '99 VR4. Attempted multiple times and would not read DTC - kept saying there were none even though I have the CEL (from precat removal).

Either cable will work. Only difference is the OpenPort cab'e will allow you to re-program WRX ecu's ( I have this one and it works perfectly)

Nope. DTC support for US OBD-II is still under development. Maybe with the next release.

Development in progress...
- Innovate MTS chain inputs: boost/rpm/battery voltatage/aux1-32
- Zeitronix Boost accuracy issue.
- Gauge background and transparent images functionality.
- ROMs, Gauges, and Gauge Layouts Library.
- 95/96 US Eclipse, DSM and 3000GT Vehicle Support.
- US OBDII Diagnostic Trouble Code support.
- Trigger datalogging on Throttle Position Sensor %.
