yes I Agree this should be true... yet not only myself but others as well have complained about the ECU modifying timing due to this... The data logs tell the truth. Before and after mod logs show this..

I'm thinking this changes the reading of baremetric pressure sensor. My theory is that with the honeycomb removed, your get faster air flow through the MAS, and thus lower pressure inside of it.......... I'm no engineer though

It could also have some effect on the temperature reading, but it seems as though you would see a lower temp due to less friction with no honecomb.... Something I've been thinking about is there are resistors that you can install in your MAS to fool the ECU into thinking the intake charge it cooler so it advances the timing and adds fuel. Maybe it would be possible to install a resistor that would fool the ECU into seeing a warmer charge, and thus take timing out...............

Quite a read. I have stock fuel. If i remove all honeycombs would i need fuel correction?

I have been running zero honeycombs in my car for about 2 months with no problems what so ever. my 13t's are set at 15psi right now. pump 91 octane. zero problems. so far this mod seems very promising!

Your car would not idle right depending on how many honeycombs you remove because you would definitely need to richen up the idle area to get your O2's cycling.

I am at +13 with my neo in the idle area to get them to cycle with all side honeycombs removed.

W/ the middle one left intact one would need to richen it up because its not registering the extra air. W/ the middle one out and the rest in, one would need to lean it up.. I would think w/ all honeycombs removed one wouldn't need to richen it up because the ports would have 'equal' resistance. Seems logical..

I'll try this when i get my datalogger working again.

It seems like the only difference between this and adding an open element filter would be more turbulence at the sensor..

please correct me if im wrong, and i apologize if this was mentioned already, i did a quick search of the thread and didnt see much.

but wouldnt a similar result be achieved by lowering the base fuel pressure?

i assume the power gain has a lot to do with getting the IDC's closer to optimal, but in this case you are chaning the amount of air that is metered as apposed to chaning the amount of fuel that it demanded.

similarly, couldnt you lower to base fuel pressure so you could get the IDC's closer to 85% or what ever?
