done and retuned, it wasn't hard at all to tune it out and the butt dyno says the spool is quite a bit better, all I ended up needing to do was richen up the entire RPM range about 16-17%

the only major difference I've noticed as far as the tune is I had to richen up the idle quite a bit, other then that it seems to run the same

Yeah but it does spool alot better and for those without timing control, less correction would equate to more stock like timing (less timing advance).

How many honeycombs did you take out?

I took out all the side ones and left the middle one in.

everything but the middle one

I remember reading the timing will stay the same as if you were just using the SAFC though, because by removing the honeycombs you are in effect "correcting" the amount of airflow the ECU is seeing

My timing went down when I did it.

I figured the timing advance problem with AFC's is directly related to the correction values used and not what the MAS is dishing out. The larger the inj, the more correction, the higher the timing advance.

Removing those honeycombs allows you to use less correction but still meet the correct A/F ratios. Less correction should equate to stock like timing or closer to stock timing curves.

IIRC I was seeing up to 28-30 timing at 7k rpms and afterwards it was around 24-26. I am going to get a scanmaster 3 so I can pay attention to my timing all the time.

yes but removing the honeycombs is still a way of telling the ECU that less air is going through then there really is, it's no different then using an AFC

An interesting fix for those with poorly matched injectors. I would wonder whether, if someone were to have emanage and keep timing constant, whether removing the surrounding honeycomb and adjusting fuel correction accordingly would make any difference at all?

Honestly im not sure what to feel about this... When I did this mod the car definately didnt feel any faster... Then again theres people on this board that have dyno and track tested this mod with fantastic results... My timing is all 30+ again after doing this mod... atleast this time I dont have any knock.

your timing should stay about the same since removing the honeycombs is just a different way of lying to the ECU about how much air is going in to it, the same as using a AFC

the major improvement of this mod is the improved airflow
