What gave me the best results was removing everything but the center honeycomb (where the sensor is) and unscrewing the bottom screw you have to dig out all the wax on... however, I have a problem running rich, so this may not work for all of you...

I did this Thursday night and was having that problem then I took a look at that A/F gauge in the corner and sure enough it was lean even though still in closed loop.

Just have to add more fuel in the cruising range and it runs like stock (no more bucking).

Definite before and after affect and I am running with 0 knock. Only using the a logger and so I will keep it at 15 psi until I can get a wideband on.

As far as spool up and the way the car feels, its a + on all fronts.

Thread bump from hell.....damn man!

Back OT, since your using a logger you should know your fuel trims, and thats how you dial in closed loop fueling. Aim for around 100 on all trims.

I would do 2nd and 3rd gear pulls monitoring INJD, Timing, Knock, INJ pulse, and rpm.

If I see timing level off or knock at xxx rpm, I would make a change. Whatever its doing my timing went from 28 at 7k to 22 at the same rpm. My timing went down 6 over the entire band and the car is moving faster than ever.

The spool up on the 13t's is nuts, they are everything I thought they would be. The car is getting squirly at just 15 psi. Next weekend I am going to let a friend of mine tune it with a wideband and hopefully I can get 17-19 psi out of it on 93. I ran 17 Friday but was seeing 7-8 counts of knock. I want to see 0, so I will let the expert do it.

For now though I am really loving this mod and it was free.

I am curious as to why you like it if it is decreasing your timing across the band? How are you faster now?

Best way to sum it up is I am looking at the logger and it shows decreased timing.

I can feel the extra power so whatever happend the car is faster than before. Its a definite before and after mod since it takes all of 5 minutes to do it.

Took +20 at 650 and 1100 to get the o2's to cycle at idle but after that it was back out on the road at 1 in the morning doing pulls and making adjustments via the AFC Neo.

I could tell that the spool up was more abrubt. You have +ve boost from 2k+ rpms but now that 2700-3k rpms area it snaps forward like a supercharger or something. I wouldn't have thought those 3 little meshes would be that much of a restriction, but the way my car is moving now, they are.

I`ll be giving this a go this week, got the E-manage and tuning by manifold pressure so hopefully I`ll be able to tune out the irregularities some of the others are seeing based on pressure rather than tps.

Just deciding wether to fully gut it or leave the middle honeycomb in..

Good reading buy the way, I`ll post my results up when it`s done.

Interesting. I never logged mine without them in there. But a decrease in timing should be slower all the time (without an increase in boost). Mine felt faster without them in there, but in reality it was not. I think it just made more noise or felt more on the ragged edge, I can't tell. Trap speeds prove other wise though. It would be interesting to see a set of comparitive traps on the same day on with and without them in the MAS

check this thread what is the limitation of the stock MAS?

in it mellon gave his gtech times over time with both the Maft and stock MAS, stock and various stages of gutting the meshes to completely gutted.

Look at those numbers and see how his traps improved by gutting the stock MAS. If I am not mistaken he is still planning on running the stock MAS.

I am going to venture out there and say that the fastest setups using the stock MAS have this mod done to them and if that is not enough information run on over to the DSM side of things since they have the same MAS and they have been doing this mod for years with good results.

As for me, I don't have the most sensitive but dyno. I am no Matt M, I don't tune by the seat of my pants BUT, even with my highly insensitive but dyno I picked up a major POSITIVE reading. The car is moving better than ever and this weekend I plan on replacing the slave/master cylinder to help my shifting and replace all fluids with a Royal Purple derivative and then let Vic tune it for me with a wideband.
