Innovator: Nice find with the gutted MAS project, but I have a few questions for you.

I'm running 550cc injectors and get large amounts of knock at anything leaner than the settings I have right now. At -30% correction on 15 psi of boost, I saw a high of 28 knock. I richened it up about 5 percent after 2800rpm and now I have about 2 knock, which is perfectly acceptable in my eyes. it fluctuates between 0 and 2 counts of knock, nothing more. My AFC corrections SEEM to be very rich, an average of -25% at WOT, varying a bit throughout the RPM range. The weird part is I'm NOT running very rich at all. o2's show an average of .96 with some spikes to .98. Timing advance in the upper RPMs is in the low-mid 30's neighborhood. So what's the deal, why am I weird

The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again, expecting different results.

Arrow Mad Hatter

Seeing others get different results I would be willing to try it more than once.
Of course, there is no doubt Chris is crazy but I can understand this aberation

My results......

I went ahead and richend up by 10% on all rpm ranges. My car has a weird dead acceleration from 1000-3000rpm, boost climbs but the car doesn't seem to want to accelerate. Then when it gets over 10psi it starts pulling really nice. From 3-7k the car seems a bit quicker but that could only be perception because of the lack of acceleration lower in the revs.

I tried riching up the fuel some more, then leaning it out to where it was pre MAF modd, same problem no matter what settings I used from 1000-3000. (I tried ranges from -5 to -25)

Threw the honeycombs back in and set the fuel back to my old settings and the car's driveability it back to where it used to be, I get better acceleration down low.

So looks like this mod isn't gonna work for me, next year I plan on trying the MAFT or ARC unit.

Only -5 down low? I don't think at 1000 rpms that's enough. Mine's closer to +24 down low. Take a look at my signature.

I should be a bit more specific, let's say I go WOT in 2nd or 3rd starting at 2000 rpm, the car has no power after the intital 1/2 sec. I watch the boost build and the rpms climb slowly (seems much slower the pre-mod) acceleration feels flat till near 3K rpms by this time I'm near 15psi, then over 3K the car accelerates great.

I can't go much under -15 in the lower revs because even at -10 I was seeing raw fuel blowing out the exhaust just backing the car outta the garage not to mention the smell was pretty bad from it running so rich.

For about $150 more than a SAFC you can adjust your timing too. The problem is I do not know of any 3S owner using the timing feature yet, and its the reason I am considering a E-manage.
I am in the process of putting a new motor in my car, and once I have it running I'm going to put the Emanage in and try to tune it. I will have pocketlogger, 2 EGTs, and emanage. Hopefully that will be enough to tune the car to a pretty good level.

I'm working on a GB for E-manage right now if you're interested. I will try to have something in the GB section in the next few days.

If you at at -28 above 4K, you need to be at around -15 below that.

10% is just a baseline to start with. You need a wideband to get it *really*right, and keep in mind that the low settings will greatly affect the high settings depending on you throttle point. Try turning the correction down to -15 on the low settings.(if you have 550cc injectors)

It sounds to me like you may be too rich or too lean

My car pulls hard and evenly up to 5500 rpm, then it pulls even harder till redline . It's sick guys.

Again, you really need a WBO2 to really know what's going on. You just cant trust the stock O2's to tune the car. They become very inaccurate as the EGT's go up. They read too lean....

Best mod to get... say it with me....wideband O2...!
