Junkyard. I'm pretty sure Mistu don't sell them separately. However you should be able to find them in junkyard fairly easily, as I believe the 2nd gen DSM MAS has the same honeycomb setup.(Not positive, just based on what I remember, not actually taken them out and compared)

You can easily get 400+ whp out of DR500s. All you need is a full Exhuast, No Cats, Better Intake, boost and tuning. At 19PSI you would be well into the 400hp mark. I know someone that got 314whp with stock turbos, stock injectors, even stock exhaust!

Quote:
Show me a DR 500 car with the stock internals that had that much HP.
Show me even 1 engine that blow up from too much HP and not something else. I bet you can not find too many very easily. It is always tuning problems or low oil pressure and so on and so forth! DarthStimpy on this board will easily be 400whp very soon. He easily made it to ~370ish with no problem!

Future mods (not in any order)... Stage 2/3 Heads, Rear Sway Bar, CFDS, LSD, Rebuilt tranny AGAIN (thinks to Mitsu), Clutch, CF Hood, Propane (already bought along time ago), Pre-Cat Eliminators, AEM Stand alone, Repainted, Big Brake Kit, Rims... think I could get close to 500WHP out of that on DR500s?http://www.penguinhosting.net/~matt/public/picture2/mycar/vr-4/

Vipers Beware!

What has made you an expert all of a sudden? Aren't you just defending what you own?

DR500's will not hold 19 psi to redline, and even if the could, they would be wayyyy out of their efficency raange Mike.

Thumbs up Day five with the gutted MAF and the car still is fast as shit and idles perfectly.

It is still perfect, and I've put 1000 miles on it, both city and hiway.. It's faster than ever.

Definately the best mod for the money!!!

Go for it fellas.

innovator, I like this idea. I took out the MAS yesterday, and removed the honeycombs you suggested...they came out very easily.

I returned the MAS, and changed my s-afc settings before it started, then started it. it ran like shit, so i reinstalled the honeycombs and figured i'd re-read this thread.

-- I didn't wait for the engine to get warm before changing the settings

and

--I didn't reset the ecu after removing the honeycombs

did you have to reset the ECU for this to work out?

is my only problem not getting it warm first, and then slowly changing settings?

thanks in advance.

I did my research. I am not defending what I own, I bought them based on what I read when I was upgrading. So other way around. I am no expert, but I do try and educate myself about these cars.

Oh really? How do you come to the conclusion that they will not hold 19psi to redline? They will actually be able to spike in the low 20's and fall off to around 19, if all the restrictions are removed. I say 19psi because you said the dr500 would not be able to put down the 400+ hp. At that psi rated they should have no problem, given you have the supporting mods like a fuel system, boost, bigger maf, and bigger exhaust and some tuning. I am not looking to argue, just clearing up some facts.
