but wouldnt a similar result be achieved by lowering the base fuel pressure?

i assume the power gain has a lot to do with getting the IDC's closer to optimal, but in this case you are chaning the amount of air that is metered as apposed to chaning the amount of fuel that it demanded.

similarly, couldnt you lower to base fuel pressure so you could get the IDC's closer to 85% or what ever?

I'm about to decide if I take out the 3 honeycombs or I uinstall the S-ITC I have at home on my car (I have PTE 580CC). I would take out my honeycombs, but I'm afraid to loose my nice idle... what do you thinks guys ? Honeycombs or S-ITC ?

It appears to be a hit or miss.. Its worth a try. Both maf's i took apart they both had their honeycombs glued in. It takes patience to get them out intact.

Update:

I removed all the honeycombs from another maf and it datalogged 38ish Hz. Where normal warm idle is around 50Hz. In other words it idled like shit. Its my belief that the difference in the depth of the honeycombs attributes the increased air velocity on the sides of the sensor. Those thick honeycombs on the bottom and sides allow more air to go threw the middle port.

I am going to try it again with the bottom comb left intact.

I have both, whatever you do get the SITC.

The honeycombs help with spool up though. As for idle, you can make your adjustments with your adjustment screw and be just the same.

How to tune a car, step by step.
I recommend a few people read this to actually see whats going on and how a MASS sensor really works.
