Built lower end, steel crank lightened and knife edged, aluminum flywheel, crower rods, weisco pistons, my own ported cylinder heads, 1mm over valves, springs, titanium retainers, stock cams, FMIC, IPS 16g turbos, hot wired pump, 255lph, SAFC2, IPS down pipe, still have the cat back exhaust. Only thing restricting was the stock MAF which got really weird at 13psi and the data logger would not keep up. I now have a GM Maf, Gen2, and will piggy back the SAFC. The tuner thinks that he can squeeze 700awhp at high boost on the next tune with out any problems although I'm going to add a boost-a-pump just in case. I also have a boost-a-spark that I'll probably put on as well. It seems that E85 runs cooler temps and the computer is even adding timing at the last dyno pull. I have had no problems what so ever with E85 as of yet. I do get to hear a ton of people tell me that it will cause damage, but in Colorado it's the best gas I can get locally at the pump at the price of $2.20 per gal. My ECU just had a melt down so I'm trying to decide if I want to go with an AEM or keep the stock ECU. This is my first import, but I'm pretty impressed with it although I'm sure that I will start breaking things soon.

cobill,
I would take the S-AFC completely out of the loop. The Gen-II has much more control, and having two piggy-backs is just going to complicate things. What size injectors are you running? BTW where did you dyno at and what was the correction factor? -Rogue

I with I could get E-85 at $2.20/gal last time I filled up it was $2.90.
What size injectors are you using? I would say go with the AEM, but if you decide to keep the stock ECU, I would sell the SAFC_II and the MAF-T and get an EMU. |

I'm using 680cc injectors, dynoed at MAC autosports and I don't know what the correction factor is I will find out the next time I go back. I'm a little worried putting a AEM system in until I find out how my stock ecu fried. I havn't made up my mind as to still use the SAFC to piggy back the Gen. Honestly I like the look of the SAFC. I was really hoping to attend the June 8 import gig at mile high

if ur setup is working fine (other than the stock ecu) why mess with it. But if you are looking for timing adjustment to make more power than u can go with the emanage ultimate with a boomslang harness...much cheaper than aem and u can run speed density.

The stock ECU fried (or actually spit in half) IC109 which is some sort of driver. I'm guessing its for the fuel pump driver, but I'm not sure. It did manage to send out a nice little puff of smoke to help me find it. Really weird to because I was driving all over town, pulled into my shop, and when I decided to leave it craped out on me as I was pulling out of my shop. I'm a little leary about an AEM because I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. I have heard both good and bad things about the Emanage. I'm still pretty new at the import side. They do need more E85 stations though, but I'd never go back to regular gas.

It would also worry me that you really never know exactly what you are going to get. It's not very controlled mixture wise. I personally would trust Race gas.
