Default E85 Powered VR4?

Saw this in wired magazine.
http://www.wired.com/cars/energy/mul...ery_green_cars

They took a Viper, and "modified the fuel and engine-management systems to run on ethanol". Anyone done this yet to a VR4? Anyone know how to do this to a VR4? Any problems with this?

I have been running my EVO on E-85 for over a year now without problems, and will be doing the same with the spyder after I have all the modifications installed.

Main requirements to run E-85 are a very high flow fuel system since it takes 25% to 30% higher fuel flow for the same amount of air compared to strait gasoline, and an air fuel tuning method to adjust fuel flow without adverse effects on your timing curve.

covered it right there. all you gotta do is tune for it. larger injectors/pump and a way to control timing

Just curious, did you have problems with the evo running/ starting in the winter when it got cold? I've been running my Eclipse on it for the past 4 months, but now it's getting cold and seems to hate life (issues with starting)
But yuh, the dummy answer is larger fuel pump and larger injectors. I went up from 650s to 750s for enough flow (single evo3 16g- dsm). It makes a huge difference with spooltime as well

It gets harder to start when the temperatures get cold. I have a coil on plug ingnition system, and that helps a bit. When it gets real cold I mix in a bit of gasoline (2 gallons per fill up). That makes starting easier, but you may need to tweak your tune.

(sorry for getting a little offtopic) I haven't gotten to run it in the winter, but I just noticed it gets harder to start as it gets colder. They're switching to E70 on the 1st, so after the 6th I'm going back to my pumpgas map.

You can boost more because of the higher Octane level and cooler a/f charge.

Premium unleaded in Denver $3.19
E85 Denver $2.09

Well, after the 1st it will get easier to start again! That is basicly what I was telling you to do on your own, by adding more gasoline to the mix it makes the blend easier to start in cold climet conditions.
