OK here is something I have been pondering, I have this Idea that Involves Using a RF Id card to start your ignition/ unlock your steering column. I have the ability to set up the RF Id portion to operate relays. My dilemma is how could you have the steering column still lock/unlock? (IE using a relay/servomotor to lock it). If I get this job I applied for I will probably buy a steering column this summer and tackle it, but I would appreciate any input beforehand.

OK now that I am not stoned and drunk here is where I want to start.
Well canakit.net is a framed site so I cant provide links but there is a reader on there with a 3 inch range (All I would really want). Something along the lines of swiping the card over the center console or something. The reader also stores up to 42 cards and has a NO/NC relay output as well as a power output for driving other accessories. Here is the reader Here is a example of a card ![]() |
