Default tires for a 16" rim

What is a decent (relatively) inexpensive tire size 225/55/ r16. Doesn't snow much here, but does get as low as freezing sometimes in the winter. All season tires that handle decent with maybe a v rating or so.

I'd like to get new rims in the future, so some cheaper all seasons would be good. Any recommendations?

Go to Tirerack.com and select your tire size, speed rating, and weather you'll be driving in, they have thousands of reviews on some types with a numerical scoring system, you should be able to find what you are looking for.
