Here's a thread with pics if you're interested http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=399150
I've got 18x9 going onto a first gen. I was thinking of running 265/35/18. The car will be on the street. Any thoughts? I'm new to this tire stuff. Also, I'm open to suggestions as to tires. I've heard Falken RT615's , Potenza RE01R's, and yokohamas.

Running a 265 wide tire on a 9" wide rim will give you a more flexible sidewall than running a 245 wide tire. I personally don't think any 3/S with BPU power levels has any need to run tires wider than 245mm, and running 245 wide tires on a 9" rim will give you nice crisp turn-in and ride in general.
I personally run 245/40/18 RT-615's on my 18x9 RP0-1's.

I almost think 245 would stretch them too much for my liking. 265 is ideal for a 9" wide rim, at least according to manufacture recommendations.

245/40 will have crispier handling response because your tires are stretched.
265/35 will be nicely flushed with your rim and still give you nice handling since your rims are lightweight. Both are appropriate sizes for our cars so like someone said, just depends on your price range.

Got 265/35 yokohama advans. The 255 pictures looked nice, but I have to have something to fill these damn wheel gaps, and a more pronounced tire might help that. This car is taken care of by me, but driven by my retired dad, so I told him that I thought he'd want something smaller than 265's, but he wants what he wants. I'm buying some rims for my 96 soon and I think I'm going with 255's, but we'll see how I like these.
I really appreciate all your help. My next tires will be BF KDWs -Andrew |
