I've got a question. I have FN01R-Cs on my TT. For some reason the clear coat is peeling off on the two front wheels. They were still under warranty so I am going to replace them all with new a new gloss black set. I think it might have to do with brake dust since it was the front sent.
Now how do you guys take care of the polished sections of your wheels? I don't use wheel cleaner since it's full of acid and I use a wheel brush. How should I be cleaning these so I can keep this from happening again.

I've always used eagle one wheel cleaner, and I choose the recomended cleaner for the wheels like eagle one chrome and wire wheel cleaner for my chrome wheels and eagle one alloy wheel cleaner for alloy wheels. just make sure you do one wheel at a time and don't leave it on too long and rinse thoroughly and dry thoroughly then maybe apply a protectant. I've heard of guys using that teflon toilet bowl cleaner (you know the stuff that keeps the poo stains from stickin' to the bowl) but you gotta get it off quick and make sure you polish the teflon residue it leaves on the wheels with a soft non-abrasive microfiber cloth otherwise it streaks like a fratboy during rush. they say the teflon keeps the brake dust and road dirt from sticking to the wheel which is good cause then it don't corrode.... i haven't tried this but myself but it seems like it might work.

I still refuse to use those wheel cleaners since they have acid in them. I always have done them one at a time. Also, the Teflon idea can't work as the Teflon can't possibly stick. Teflon is flash baked onto cookware.
I honestly think that leaving the brake dust on ate the clear coat and using the wire brush was too abrasive. Do I need to use polish and a soft cloth to clean them instead? |

this is why I didn't clearcoat mine when I polished them. I use things like polish, wax or the flitz cream for polished metals to keep them clean (maybe one time at month or more). They're still very shiney after half year
