, I would go with coilovers. In any other case I would go with Tein S-techs instead along with some new OEM ecs struts and rear adjustable control arms like mentioned before. You won't be able to get a huge drop with the S-techs but it is enough to get rid of the 4x4 look and gives the car a much better stance. Also in tour mode the spring rate is very close to stock so you won't be feeling every little bump like you would with coilovers. If I were in your shoes I would go with: Tein S-techs Maximal Performance rear adjustable control arms new OEM struts (if yours have quite a few miles racked up on them) PB blaster because those nuts and bolts don't like to play nice pray that your eccentric bolts on your rear trailings arms aren't frozen so your alignment guy can get the toe within spec Also it would be a good idea to check out your upper strut mounts while its apart since after I did everything listed above I have since developed an annoying clunk which I believe to be the the upper strut mounts. I too am looking for lowering springs for mostly street use for my 94 VR4 with 35K miles on it (the OEM struts are in good shape). I thought the Tein S springs are too soft & non-progressive sping rate and would easily bottom out. Have you found that to be the case?
I was leaning towards Eibach since Intrax doesn't appear to be available anymore, but if others have good experieince with Teins maybe I'll go that way. Thanks, Jim |

This pic is hard to tell, but best one I have post-Teins (just put them on a couple weeks ago). Look at the picture in my signature, look at the rear wheel gap. My signature pic is with eibachs ![]() |

Nick,
Thanks for the valuable input - I was about to go down the wrong path. I can definitely see the gap difference at the rear between Teins and Eibachs, but the front looks about the same from the pics. Is that about right? The ride quality difference is important to me as well - glad to hear the Teins don't bottom out which was my concern with soft springs with less travel than stock. BTW, congrats on April 08 ROTM - it is clear you put a lot of work into your ride and it is well done. Jim PS - Go Bosox! I'm from Beantown too and will see the Sox play the Reds when they come to Cinci in June. |
