I'm pretty sure that Supermac sells a strut bar that fits 91-99.

FYI, it seems there was another thread for ebay strut bars having the same problem on 1st gens

His strut bar IS a Supermac strut bar. Supermac = UP = Ultimate Performance.

I had to shave the battery tie-down to get it to fit under the bar. Not doing that would raise the bar up ~1/4"

I readjusted the strut bar and it's still hitting the hood. Here's some pictures:

If I push it down the hood it'll close but it's really baring against the hood and dents that shield

I actually bent the battery tie down so that it would clear the bar and got it to go over the bar. I didn't like the idea of the cap on that side not sitting flush to the shock tower.

Did you get someone to push down on it before you tightened it down? I loosened the 4 bolts on the driver side and pushed down it myself before tightening but it still hits. I'll try to get someone to really push on it while I tighten but I doubt it'll give it enough clearance.
