STICKY: Offset and tire/rim charts (Somebody check my math)
This thread is to give guidelines for rim and tire fitment.
It aint the Bible!! As read in this link the numbers on tires and rims are NOT exact measurments.

Actualy Alan, I am finding new flaws in my logic every hour it seems.
I wanted to hear from others first before I posed this as truth.
example, I have 225/35 tires stretched over my 8.5" (216mm) wide rims.
Why are 225mm wide tires thinner than 8.5" (216mm) rims?
Isnt 225>216?

Probably because there is a surprising amount of variation in actual treadwidth on rated tire width. For example a firestone "275" is nearly 2" narrower than say a "275" ES 100, or a kuhmo MX. It would also be helpful to include what offset is ecessary to clear the strut. Most of the tire/wheel sizes listed would not clear the struts anyway, it should be easy enough to make another table listing what offsets will clear the struts.
