NOTE: - After installation was done I noticed that the base of the clips are not touching the control arm. There is ever so slightly a small crack/space there which I can fit a Stanley poker tool into. The photos are below. I don't imagine this will cause me any trouble and maybe even eventually the bj's will slide down and the clip will do its job, but I did want to point out that the OEM ball joints had ZERO space between the clip base and the control arm. The only space there on the OEMs was between the tip ends of the clip. Perhaps I put a lil too much Olympian force on the press tool aye? Dunno.
And now..... pics: Bend it: ![]() Ball joint tip under the groove: ![]() Halfway on: ![]()

I have sold thousands of these to others and have never heard of anyone having a complaint with this issuse. Have also used them myself. These ball joints are a exact fit to OEM.... |

I don't believe I issued a complaint so much as reported a fact. The clips are not bent because the groove they are fit in all the way around the ball joint body is a perfectly defined straight circular groove. I noticed the groove sat higher before the clip install and believe I may have forced the press further beyond what most might've pressed them in. The pictures do not lie. It is simply that the groove is elevated above the surface of the control arm just enough to notice and hence the clip naturally is elevated as well. I didn't issue a complaint or try to start an argument. Just reporting the facts. I do not anticipate any problems with it at all especially since you've sold in the 4 digits of numbers to people. Another reason I don't expect trouble is because I think other vehicles use ball joints that don't even have clips and they are fine too.
Again, FYI - THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE CLIPS IN IS TO BEND THEM AND WHETHER YOU DO IT BEFOREHAND OR DURING THE INSTALL IS IRRELEVANT BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE TO BEND THEM REGARDLESS. And if you are good with the install you'll only have to bend them once and as slight as m picture shows. |

Small gap in outside edge of clip is not that significant and could be a result of twisting to get the clip onto the ball joint. More important is that the clip inside lip is firmly seated into the groove in the ball joint. (Take a close look at the groove in the ball joint to see if is really above the surface or nearly flush.)
As long as the clip is seated in the groove it should be fine. (I never noticed a gap when I replaced mine but would not have been surprised/concerned if there was a small gap.) If the clip is installed correctly you should be able to rotate it around the groove by tapping on it gently with a screwdriver. Clint

Clint - Thats what I figured as well and I am dead certain the clip is in the groove on both sides because there is no possible way I'd rest easy at night. Seriously. I have a perfection issue... always striving for it. lol - I do know perfection isn't attainable though.
