Seeing as the famous manufacturers of the so called "kits" for our cars are raking us across the coals pricewise on a polyurethane bushing kit, has anyone considered buying a set for say a dsm or a truck or whatever and custom fabbing them to fit into various places on our cars. The main concern would be the suspension bushings in the rear as they tend to wear out quickly. Funny how all the "other" cars kits are less than 150 and they want to charge us upwards of 300$ !!! Wtf is that all about its just rubber.
Another option would be to get a solid brick of polyurethane and just make them as you go along. Anyone know of a website that sells just a straight brick of rubber or polyurethane??? Another option I have considered is finding some bearings that would fit nicely in a machined aluminum fitting to replace the main larger bushings in the upper and lower control arms in the rear as well as the trailing arms. I think wheel bearings would be a good option for this. Installing the afco camber control arms in the stealth this weekend sprouted all kinds of ideas in my head in regards to the weak rubber bushings in our vehicles. My gears are turning, are yours ? ![]()

You have a squeak but I have a very loud clunk from worn out bushings which I have not narrowed it down to which one it is. I'm gonna start replacing all of them one at a time till the noise goes away!!
Anyone know what size our sway bar in the rear is?? Is it 21 mm??? |

There is roughly 25.4mm to one inch so 7/8 of an inch would be about 25.4 x 7 / 8 = 22.225mm get the 22 or 23 mm one and you should be fine. Here or here for the greaseable sway bar bushings for your upgraded sway bar Now whats the stock size of the tt rear and front sway bar?? Lets keep this going. You tell me the sizes and I can find the bushings. ![]() This kit looks promising for the rear control arms. Shall I be the guinea pig once again on another one of my wild quests to save a buck? ![]() |
