Re: ok.. screwed b/c i lowered my car.. need help in Rochester NY
just try out other places, i lowered mine a little as well and got rejected by 3 shops before i went to sears, and they said they could do it. Im just waiting for the tie rod ends to come in and theyre gonna charge me like $90 for the alignment.

Ya this has proven to be a lot easier said than done.. I called like 10 places yesterday, explained the situation and basically got turned down by all but 2 places. One of which wanted over $100 to do it and the other wanted $90. Mounting and balancing the tires is a joke, I asked all the same people and recalled some of the shops I talked to last week that gave me decent quotes to see if I could bring it down yesterday since I was off from work and every one of them had changed their quote based on who I talked to. Every place ranged from $25 to $35 a tire to mount and balance. Unbelievable! Especially since I had 2 shops last week tell me $15 and $19 mount and balance but those same 2 shops are now saying, "oh no buddy, I don't know who you talked to but no way. Low profile tires are a bitch to do" ugh.. I am also waiting to hear back from 2 local dudes big in the scene as to what they suggest but since I haven't talked to either one of them in ages and neither was I real great friends with, its no surprise I haven't heard a damn thing back from yesterday morning yet.

Always, always ,always get the name of the person you spoke with. I learned that the hard way placing orders for work. If you have that name it makes it so easy to stick it to them.
If you keep having issues take a trip out here, I have a buddy that works at firestone, he'll mount the tires for next to nothing and get it aligned.

Thanks Grant, I appreciate your offer! If I can't get it ironed out for mounting and balancing, I may take you up on that. I think I am going to go to Craig Autometrics though for the alignment. They are a little more expensive at just a bit over $100 but apparently they are the best around Rochester and have gotten some very good reviews by other local car enthusiasts.

Go to the super Walmart in Chili, They mount and balance all 4 tires for like $40...
Firestone on Delwey I believe, did my all wheel alignment and my car was slammed. Guys are pretty good. They just use one of the metal plates they use for the alignment machine to get your car on the ramp. If you want extra insurance, bring your own boards ;-)
Go for the 4 wheel lifetime alignments... Little expensive, by pays off in two visits...

I take my own boards when I go for an alignment. If you have a lowered car, you need your own boards anyway or a low profile jack. I have a set of boards (4) that I made up by putting a 2" x 12" on top of three side by side 2x4's. They're a little bit of a pain to drive up on in my garage, but they work ok and they get the car enough off the ground to get a jack under it. Now that I think of it, I should throw them in the hatch when I go to get it inspected, too.
