I went to get two new front tires from Sears a few weeks back, and when I got the car back it pulled pretty hard to the right.
They kept telling me there's no way it was a balance issue, and checked my allignment for me after a couple days of complaining. So after assuming that they knocked my allignment out of place, they finally told me I needed one, and of course I had to pay for it. I got the car back, still pulled to the right. So I took it back, and they gave me two new tires, mounted/balanced, all for free this time around. Still pulled to the right. SO I took it back AGAIN tonight and got two new tires AGAIN (different brand this time), AND they realligned it (which is one of the things I'm confused on, it was way off again and they just did it last week...) Well I drove home tonight and guess what! Wooooo pulls to the right still! Does anybody have ANY idea as to what it could be!? I really don't want to take it back there a 5th time, but if anybody has any input as to what it could be, it would be greatly appreciated. |

My suggestion would be to take it to a different shop. I know your going to half to pay again, but it really sounds like the place that your taking it to just doesn't know how to align the car.

I would take it to another shop I had a car that did the same thing and it ended up being the tie rods, it was a junk car so I just ended up dealing with it.

Man, I actually mentioned control arms to them, but the said "Nope, definitely not..." Even though my allignment was horrible AGAIN after 5 days.
I wouldn't be so against trying another shop and all, but the reason I want them to take care of it is because I think they're finally thinking "well...it didnt happen before we worked on it...but it is now..." So they've been cooperative...they just suck ass. Thanks for the input though guys. |

Word of advice. Don't continue to take one of these cars back to a shop that has shown they have no clue how to work on them just because you want them to fix their mistake. When you find a clueless shop, avoid it like the plague, they can potentially screw up more crap on your car each time you take it back.
If you want them to pay for it. Take it to a good shop, have them check it over and properly align it (and check the balancing on the wheels. That isn't the problem but this shop has shown that they aren't competent). when the car is properly aligned, take the bill to the 1st shop and tell them, "Look, you screwed it up, and you've tried time and time again to fix your mistake but obviously can't. These guys HAVE fixed it, here's the bill. Pay for it". If they say no, get a lawyer or take them to small claims court on your own. make sure to have the new shop check to make sure nothing has been bent. Whenever I get new tires, I always watch the guys do the work (I won't go anywhere I can't see the car the whole time). If you've ever seen shop guys using a 20lbs sledgehammer to whack parts of a car, you'll understand why. It's really easy to bend tie rods and other suspension parts doing something like that. The tierod end is easy to replace, the tierod itself is a bit more of a pain. Max

Thanks for the info man.
I always took my last car to these guys, and my family have always taken their cars to them as well. They've always done great work, and I've never had a problem with them. It has been over a year though so I dunno...change of staff perhaps. And I was in the service bay when they did it, nothing looked too out of the ordinary other than the fact that they couldn't get the rear left wheel off. Heh, I should've asked for my keys back right then. Alright well I guess it's off to another shop after work tonight, thanks again guys. |
