Ok so I am looking to buy some new pads and after reading some reviews and a few threads on the forums it seems that the Hawk HPS are pretty good brake pads. As of right now I believe I have Stock OEM pads which have served me well but I am looking to try something new.
I heard that the Hawk HPS pads overall are good and pretty quite, the only semi bad thing I heard about them is the fact that they have a lot of brake dust???. Can you guys give me some pros and cons, should I get them or not, etc..... I know most will ask how I drive the car, well to answer that question It is my DD and it is driven on the highway mostly, I also do have a good share of city driving. Last questions I had is, I have a 92 VR-4 and I can find the front pads what about the REAR PADS????? Also what is the cheapest place to buy them, so far I found them on PMP for $78 for front (dont see rear?) and free shipping... |

I wasn't able to find the HPS for the rear either. You might have to go with another pad in the rear or convert to a 2nd gen setup.
You have them for the 1st gen? I just checked your site.

Well, so what do most people do besides converting, I just think it doesnt make sense for me to convert perfectly good working calipers just so they will fit a certain pad. I mean we all know the front does most of the work, heck I got about 20% pad life left on my front and rears are just GONE (I know its bad) and the car still brakes well for my DD purpose and a little fun on the weekends. So that being said what do most 1st gen guys use on their cars without converting. And again some feedback on the hawk HPS would be great.

You could also go with the Carbotech Bobcat if you're just looking for a moderately aggressive street pad. I've been using pretty much their full range of pads for a few years now (everything but most aggressive race compound), and they're great.
However, the HPS is a solid pad, and for just driving around town (with the occasional spirited maneuver mixed in), pretty much any street compound will work for you. Clint
