Default Bilstein struts and shocks but what springs?

Hey, guys.

The bilsteins are a little more of a heavier duty strut/shock than the OEMs...

So, what springs are good with the bilsteins? In general, would stiffer springs work better if I have STIFFER strut/shocks? Would bilsteins and GC springs be a good combo? If not, what's better? I need to stick with bilstein struts and shocks. The GC springs I believe are 450/600.

Thanks!

i just put bilsteins on with eibach springs and it rides awsome. Not to stiff at all but cornering has improved greatly, but then again im still in the process of breakin them in

I have H&R springs. Rides smooth on the highway, and handles very well.

I would stick to a mild drop on the bilsteins. I ran mine with intrax for about 3k miles and they are not going back on the car. Cutting the bump stops on the front cartridges proved to be an absolute bitch.

I did my suspension about 15 months ago, and I was unable to get my struts apart to cut the stops. Maybe they have since either tightened the housing or added a thread locker? I was just going to strip it out. That's why I went with the H/R springs (1" drop).

Yeah, I think I am going to sell my GC and get some TEIN...time to do some research.

Hi, I am replacing my worn-out factory struts for Bilsteins (on 3000GT NA) and considering changing the springs to Eibachs. Assuming the ride isn't super stiff, my only concern is alignment. (read something about the rears needing additional adjustments)

Did you have the car aligned afterwards?
Any additional parts needed? (ie rear control arms)
Thanx

I love the Tein S-Tech springs for height and comfort ... but they aren't as stiff as my Intrax. If you will have to cut the bump stops for intrax ... it's a question of how much the increased spring rates are worth to you.

I also tried to get the Bilstein front cartridges apart... a month ago... and I couldn't do it. I put two jam nuts on the threaded rod that protrudes out the bottom of the strut, and all that happened was I messed up the threads on the rod when the jam nut I was using to turn the rod started spinning in place.

I don't think that opening it up and cutting the internal bump stops is feasible at present- at least, not without a THIRD strut to cut apart first and find out what they're doing now to keep them together.
