That part # FA1673 also does NOT work on a 1991 VR4 lower ball joint. Much too small.

oaky, what the heck? So is this made for a FWD? Are these for the LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL Joint?

so will these work on a 1993 TT?

1995 base--NO
1991 TT--NO

If you want ball joints that fit check with xchvyragtopx@aol.com. I bought a pair of lower ball joints for a 1991 VR4 from him for $70 shipped. He used USPS priority and I had 'em in 2 days. The only negative is they weren't greasable. No zerts - but hey the originals didn't have zerts so all in all I'm very satisfied.

Disregard everything I have written about the FA1673 ball joint ever fitting the 3/S control arm.
New Information
I assumed that the Eclipse/Talon/Laser ball joint fit the 3/s control arm, which most of you have already discovered does not. This led me down the long path to discovery. I had plenty of time to kill at work so out came the Moog catalog that my machinist allowed me to borrow. Frankly, I should remove that entire posting and redo all of my typings with the correct information I discovered.

What the people that are selling these "magical" ball joints both here and on Ebay that fit the 3/S platform are for a 1995-98 Hyundai Sonata. V-6 or 4 banger doesn't matter.

What you are looking for is Moog K9855 or its equivelent.
TRW 104-244 is one such equivelent.
So is the NAPA ATM 1013408.

This also fits the 94-current Hyundai Tiburons as well. However, They do not have the preloaded spring underneath the ball socket along with the accompanying "bulb" at the end of the joint itself. That joint is p/n Moog k9455. Either one fits. Use the k9855 unit or its equivelent instead of the k9455 in my opinion.

Yes, I have installed this very joint in my '92 VR4 and it is the actual joint. You can take that information to the bank.

As for differences between AWD vs. FWD... They are all the same. Tie rods are different, not ball joints.

So, to all that have ever profitted from selling ball joints for roughly 250% markup, piss on you all.

A big thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread.

The TRW ball joints are CHEAP at about $22 each at Parts America. They are excellent in quality and I'd say they were a made in Japan MMC part if I didn't know otherwise.

The retaining clip is the hardest part to install but otherwise it is cake.

I can't find any ball joints for a 91VR4 on partsamerica. Not via a search. Can't even find the suspension section.
