Default anyone know about Toyo Proxis 4 Tires

Is anyone familiar with the Toyo Proxis 4 Tires ?

The dealer I found only has these tires in all season and I would prefer to buy everything from one place. I live in NJ so all season is important.

BigWheels.Net: custom wheels,chrome wheels,alloy wheels,car wheels,truck wheels,aftermarket wheels,large rims,wheel and tire packages,polished wheels

These wheels are awesome:

I have them on my car. What do you want to know? They were on the car when I got it, so can't say anything about mileage, but they grip good and corner pretty well. I have a little traction problem from a launch, but I think I need new motor mounts (FWD).

I wouldn't rate the proxes in the same league as the nitto extreme 555, but they don't appear to suck enough to warrant taking mine back to swap them for nittos. I got 4 proxes 4 about a month ago for my svt cobra. They seem to do decent in dry weather, and on damp roads, i haven't seen a gully washer type rain since putting them on but i imagine they'll do better than the bald nittos i had on before.

I don't like the way they behave when spinning, (even on wet roads) the rear end tends to move around a bit instead of staying solidly in one spot like it did before these tires. I only spun them to get an idea how they would hold under launch conditions. I got the proxes because the dealer didn't have any nittos in stock at the time. Plus they were cheaper. I really wanted goodyear gsd3's or nitto 555s.

Sorry if I didn't mention details. I have a VR-4 so spinning the tires isn't an issue.

I was mainly concerned with how they did in the wet and if anyone had driven on them in the snow. Tread wear is also a queston

I realize the best in the snow would be snow tires, but I can't afford two sets of wheels and tires, and very importantly, I don't have anywhere to store them.

Thanks for any help
Tony

They were very noisy when being pushed, and for the price they weren't as good as other tires.

Never again. I have 245's and my worn out champiro 225's were better.

I am about ready to replace a set of 245/45/17 Proxes 4 which has been on my 92 R/T TT at around 4 years. If I could remember when I got them, I could tell you how many miles I put on them. I can tell you this much. They seem to wear better than my old Pirelli all season and Dunlop Supersport all season. I drive them year around in Michigan weathers with snow and cold. Lost control once last year in a slush storm, but the tread was down to 3 or 4 32nds, so I blame myself for riding them so long, not the actual model of tire. In fact, I priced a replacement set at Belle Tire a few months ago, then just toughed it out for the winter (drove more carefully), and am now just wearing them down for the summer, and will get new tires before the snow flies.

My outside corners are wearing down faster than the main tread, but I think this is typical? No cupping like the Pirelli's - very even tread wear. I don't think they are noisy -- not quiet, but not loud, either. As for life, the original Gatorbacks lasted about 40,000 mi, and each of these 3 replacements (Pirelli, Dunlop, Toyo) are more like 20,000 apiece. As I drive less than 7,000 mi per year, every 3 to 4 years is fine by me. If I was better at keeping my tires properly inflated, I am sure they would last a little longer.

Bottom line, if you think you might like them, give them a try. I won't recommend against getting them. And, as everyone else says, YMMV
