GIMP 2: the poor man's photoshop

so i downloaded gimp a while back and never really tried it, because it looked so confusing. is there a write-up somewhere that explains the tools on gimp 2, and how they relate to those of photoshop (like a gimp 2 for dummies type thing?) i would like to be able to do all of those cool "eclipse bumper on a vr4" type pictures, but i most likely will never spend the money on photoshop (nor do i have it at the moment). anything helps

You can get cs2 for free

gimp is the linux version of photoshop, which means its free coding. or at least it was. it should be exactally the same as ps. but i donno

You can get CS3 for free as well. Just dont look up on youtube "photoshop for free" because they teach you to hack. That is not good.
