Default What happens when the lifters go out?

does anyone know?? I know they tick tick tick, but what happens to the lifter? does it sieze up? or does it come real loose or what? my stealth has probably the worse lifter case that can happen it ticks sooo loud the lifter itself compresses realllllly easy. im geussing to easy???? does the spring just wear out or what

From my understanding its nothing, I have a real bad tick during the winter and I pulled my front head and all of them were really in there tight. Maybe there is different instances, but I'm guessing the only way to find out if anything is wrong is to pull your valve cover and check yourself.
