Need help here. Removed my oil pan and in my oil pan I had a small spring about 1/2 inch long, 1/16 inch wide and one small steel ball about 1/16 inch in size in the bottom of the pan. Would anybody have an idea of where it came from?

My main bearings went out that was why I took the oil pan off. The oil pressure had lowered somewhat before taking the oil pan off. Engine started making a slight noise and I checked it soon. So the small spring and steel ball is what you think made my mains fail. |

Did you post this in the wrong section? Are we talking about your VR4?
I was thinking poppet valve for one of the piston skirt oilers. Got pics?

I don't have a way to post pics or I would. It is a black spring and small perfect round shinny ball (like a ball bearing). What color is the oil pump relief spring or piston squirters? Is the ball I am referring to called a plunger in the service manual or is it out of a piston squirter? If it was the oil pump regulator valve the plug the manual refers to was not in my oil pan. Any help would be apprectiated!!!!!!! |

I don't know how you can check them without pulling the crankshaft. I hope this isn't your problem but maybe someone near you has an old oil jet so you can see if the parts match. New ones are only $9.00 each from a Mitsusbishi dealer. Only problem is the crank must be out to change them. Good luck. |
