Default Re: Updated NITROUS thread for N/A, any newcomers? Upgrades shots or new stories?

It is a shame more N/A members want nothing to do with it, and go wasting so much money on expensive mods with very little outcome in power such as those phelonic spacers, flywheels, cam gears, any borla top name exhaust for a simple catback, ecu reflashes, chips, electric intake sc/turbos, ported tb's, carbon fiber parts, just not worth it in the end.

Some of those mods listed are great and I def. wish I had if I had loads of cash, but to me not worth the price-power ratio, just doesn't add up as well as a nice nitrous kit.

Again I know nitrous isin't for everyone, but I really think a lot of members looking for significant power gains that don't want to fund a tt conversion, or deal with labor should look into a nice nitrous option.

It's a Custom Assembled and Tuned Kit from FSR Motorsports here in Cali. They do a ton of 3s stuff and do awesome work. But it's all Holley Parts.

See I would love to use N20 but this is my nice car so if I hurt my nice car I gotta drive the one I don't like which sucks. I mean a beater is a beater but whats a beater w/o a nice car? Anyway I mean if a 50 shot is gonna show a large gain for a good price and my motor is healthy then I don't run the risk of hurting anything?

Get a Wideband when you get your Nitrous and Watch it carefully. Also, Start with a Small Shot 35 or 50 and set up watching your AFR and keep the Tune nice and rich. Also, Make sure you only Spray at WOT and above 3000RPM and you'll be fine. I Run a Window Switch and a WOT switch to make sure I cant screw up my Motor.

Widebands won't help you much with nitrous. I would go with an EGT gauge if you want to keep an eye on everything.

the biggest thing to watch is timing.

Ive seen an engine running 10:1 a/f blow up with N20 because the timing was too far advanced

If there's knock on our cars it should automatically retard timing...I'm running a 150 shot with no timing control and don't have any knock.

Why is this the Case? Why is an EGT more helpful than a Wideband for Nitrous?

When a car get dangerously lean the EGT will go way up to the point where stuff starts melting. Unless you're tuning way safe (like 10:1 for AFR) a 11.5-12:1 can still get you a high EGT because nitrous burns a little hotter.
