Hey Gatecrasher, what is involved in using a an AWD tranny in a FWD car? I assume you just leave the transfer case off and then alter something inside the tranny so it doesn't even turn the output shaft to the t-case. Does it work with the N/A shifter and linkage or do you have to get that from the TT as well. Does the AWD tranny on a FWD car hold up better than the FWD tranny without a LSD on either?

I'm probably wrong about this one two. I guess i just don't have a lot of salt.
For some reason in the last post i made i was thinking he was trying to put an awd tranny in a fwd car. Just got mixed up. Wasn't thinking straight.
Actually, I beleive that Gatecrasher later prooved himself wrong about that by putting an AWD tranny (6 speed) into his FWD TT swapped car. I know that a custom plug would have to be made to plug the hole left by removing the output shaft but I dont know what the details are and what else might need to be done to the tranny. Maybe Gatecrasher could be so kind as to enlighten us on this? It is a swap that I would deffinatly consider later on.

You thread hijacking bitches! But really, Gate does have the 6spd tranny. I would love to do that but I don't want to have to deal with all the customizing. One of the tuner shops should take AWD 6spd trannies (used), and do the modifications needed to make them fit on a NA. Then sell them as ready to bolt on 6spd's. I would pay the extra cash for a 6spd, and that would be my next mod!!!
Serboy - this is TT conversion is for DOHC's only. SOHC's need to do the full vr4 engine swap.

Thats the #1 thing I hate about this forum. Way too many people posting "so-called" information, when they're really just guessing. People should refrain from answering unless they actually know the answer to something.
