Default Steering wheel is hard to turn, The Power steering pump was just replaced.

I replaced a 94 3000gt power steering pump and pulley 1 week ago and the steering and everything was great and back to normal.

Today it was very hard to turn right or left on another street , same with u - turns. There is no noise like I use to hear on my old bad power steering pump and pulley

I can switch lanes and do little turns easily and it isnt a problem.

Has this happened to anyone or does anyone know whats wrong?

THANKS

Check the belts. Did you reuse your old one? Maybe it wasn't tensioned right and was cut. Check your power steering fluid too.

Have you checked your power steering fluid level?

Yes I checked the power steering fluid and it wasnt the problem.

I got the power steering pump from my friends junkyard.

I think it needs to be tensioned or something?

THANKS!

hey max,

i am having the same problem. i just got my pump replaced too but now sometimes the wheel is real hard to turn at really slow speeds. My check engine light came on so i pulled the code and got p0551 - Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance - what the hell does that mean though? My fluid is Ok, the tension on the belts is OK because it was just tensioned. Anyways, i just deleted the code and will wait to see after how many drive cycles it comes back on. It doesnt fix the problem though..

Any help?
