However I am suprised at seeing what mods the tc's sohc has and how it performed, since I just saw the sig. I remember SOHC3000GT complaining about how limp his atx sohc accelerated even with BPU (similar mods to you, including full exhaust - 3sx headers and borla cat back). Perhaps the auto tranny just sucks an absurd amount of power compared to other cars?
Yep, the ATX's are slow and break easy. A crappy combo IMO.

Just searching for a bit online I see close to 17 secs for a wrangler 1/4 mile. SOHC 3s should be close to that!

BTW: My previous jeep was a 93 with the 2.5l and 32" tires. It maxed out at 65 MPH so 1/4 mile times had to be well over 20 secs.

I have almost 150,000 miles on my motor and I have only replaced the head gasket even though I beat the shit out of it along with all the mods I installed. The SOHC is a beast when it comes to reliability. My only complaint is the ticking at idle...so annoying.

Yeah, I have a 4.0, but it's in a WJ. I doubt my quarter mile is under 20 seconds!

Use SeaFoam Right before your oil change then switch to Royal Purple Oil. Worked for me. No more tick. It did for a little after the oil change, but now its gone after about a week.

id have to say that my sohc atx is quicker than that. i have 3 bolt on parts and im able to run with the dohc na's(automatic im guessing). granted the dohcs i have raced thought i was a true rt lol. idk why your cars wont bark the tires, mine will peel out of the hole pretty good whether i launch it or just floor it. i cant wait to get back to the dragstrip this year

it seems to me that the performance parts for the sohc seem to increase its tq more than its hp. i have intake, catback, and headers, and a stock sohc atx put down 120-124 hp and 130ish wtq normally. mine now only puts down 132whp, but my tq is at 175 at the wheels.

I don't even want to get into the SOHC ticking problem. We have ROCKER ARMS, but people still say it's the LIFTERS....Argh!. The forum I started is below and no one could ever tell me a straight answer so I just stopped reading it.

Ticking Motor...annoying!
