i have a 92 es and i just replaced a fowled plug and got a new battery. The car starts after a few times turning it over but when i push the gas at more then 10% throttle it starts to die and chokes out and also smells really rich. any ideas? i was thinking o2 sensor which would explain the fowled plug and how the plug reeked of gas when it was removed. lets here what u guys think... tomarrow i was gonna unplug the o2 sensor and see if i can get it to run at more then 10%of WOT.

yeah i just went out and checked everything. seems that unplugging the 02 sensor changes absolutely nothing. youd think that it would run worse with it unplugged wouldnt you? anyways everything is plugged in. it idles fine now... im not sure what could be wrong with it... would stale gas cause this? its got the same gas in it since last fall.

I honestly don't know what stale gas would cause since I've never had to deal with it - but I've run 6-10 month old gas in my car before without a problem.
![]() The engine needs gas, compression (air), and ignition at the correct time to run. Does it have these things? |
