i seem to recall mentioning or perhaps suggesting you rebuild your throttle body? LOL. anywho, good luck. the light at the end of the tunnel is hopefully at least visible. i'm going home to Dallas for the weekend to work on a friend's 3S and bring back all my tools! woohoo, i'll be reunited with my tools!
seriously, get your car back on the road. and gimme a holler if you need a hand or another head ( 2 heads are always better than one).

LOL - THATS EXCELLENT DUDE !!! YOU AND YOUR TOOLS TOGETHER AGAIN ! I tell ya what, I know exactly how that feels. Was up in IL once and my GF's car needed a brake job and I couldn't do squat. Actually I was thinking about you this week and depending on when the throttle body was going to end up back here I was either gonna invite you over for this weekend or next so we could hit the steering rack and if all goes well then the a/c system too.... but maybe leave that out. Looks like the throttle body may be back here tomorrow or Monday so if you wanna come over for the last weekend of this month let me know. I can totally drive my car with the current steering rack, but the old one definitely needs to go. I'm really on the fence about me or any friend doing the steering rack cause I don't want any accidents happening and I'm really suspect of my exhaust parts breaking when we remove that one piece to get the rack out. What ya think? |

sorry for the late reply. i'm definitely down for coming out the last weekend of the month. this weekend i came back to Dallas to do some work on a member's car. we changed the oil pump, water pump, all timing parts, did the VSS...and even changed all the bearings after finding copper sparkles all in the oil pan. anywho, so i'm driving back Tuesday. i'll pack all my tools in my car and i'll be complete as a man, once again, LOL. (when i die, i think i'd like to be buried with my tools.) but sure, i can help you replace the rack and do the A/C work if you want. i'm not very familiar with the A/C system, but i know the general idea of the system and how its supposed to work. as for the old steering rack, the worst thing that could happen would be for the fluid to leak out, in which case it would only be difficult to steer below 20 mph. your forearms would get huge in no time!
so i'm down for this weekend. i work saturday 7-3, so i could come out in the afternoon. just let me know. otherwise i'll spend all weekend playing Halo 3 which is released tuesday night at 12:01am. |

I've heard that everyone is juiced about Halo 3. I'm kinda sorry I missed that bandwagon as I don't have an Xbox and never have. I was talking to someone at a Gametrader today about it and he says its the only reason he still has an Xbox cause otherwise he was going to sell it on Ebay. Yeah the rack has a bad leak and the boot that covers the rod is pretty much in half. The outer and inner tie rod ends are in need of replacement. A/C - I bought the Autozone DVD on how to do the A/C. Haven't watched it yet, but I'm sure it'll be a nice guide. It doesn't seem too difficult, but my main concern was actually what to do with the old refrigerant. Was thinking of having someone drain it at a shop first before doing the work. I don't want to breath that stuff and don't feel that great about letting it out into the atmosphere although I know other probably do all the time. Unfortunately now I'm not sure about this weekend as these last couple of days have pumped out some family drama which may have me leaving asap at my own will and the problem interferes with everything I do including working on the car. |

Yeah its too bad that'll be the pertiest part in my engine bay. lol - I need to get a few things powder coated in anodized finish, but looks are always last except this time where the LOOKS were a nice biproduct of having it remachined and rebuilt.

Check that out for some IAC ohm info. In going to put on my new throttle body tonight I did the usual inspection of parts beforehand and found that my IAC is in fact BAD after all this time I thought it was good because I have driven less than 1000 miles on it. It was replaced 3 years ago with a reman, but the car has been laid up pretty much since then. I just can't believe its bad though cause I swear I checked this in 2007 and it was good. Since the car has been laid up in 06 and 07 this makes me feel like I need to do a reinspection of the ECU since ye ole bad IAC usually means a bad ECU as well. I hope to God that isn't the case cause my ECU was good last I'd electrically checked and visually checked. |

I have decided that I am too good for the old IAC's. I don't even want to deal with them at all in the future. I'm debating on selling my old extra one on Ebay or on here. At the constant risk of blowing my ECU which are in seemingly short supply for my hybrid year (although I have checked my ECU and it looked physically OK, but since then my IAC has gone bad) 1995 and the price of new old IAC's and ECU's and time/effort involved in always forever testing/troubleshooting it just seems worth it to have the newly revised version IAC in my car. This way I can have SOME kind of comfort about it under my hood and keep it "mostly" out of my mind when thinking of what may be causing issues under the hood. I should go update my old IAC story. lol
Tonight I purchased a black IAC from Ebay for a decent price and they clean/test them first with a 2 year free replacement guarantee. So in the meantime tomorrow I'll get to the rebuilt tb finally and when the new IAC arrives I'll go thru all the motions of resetting the idle and tuning the tb various thingies.
